The Hymns of Dissonance tour brought a brutal lineup to Baltimore Soundstage, delivering an unforgettable night. Alluvial, 200 Stab Wounds, Brand of Sacrifice, and Whitechapel performed to a sold-out crowd packed wall to wall. The energy in the room never died down as fans moshed, crowd surfed, and screamed their hearts out from start to finish. The breakdowns and blast beats were felt deep in the chest, shaking the venue to its core.

Alluvial opened the night with their mix of technical rhythm and crushing grooves. Formed in 2016, the band features members with backgrounds in acts like The Faceless and Black Crown Initiate, bringing a refined yet devastating sound to the modern death metal scene. Alluvial has built a reputation for their atmospheric yet crushing style, balancing intricate guitar work with sheer heaviness. Their set showcased this blend perfectly, drawing in the early crowd with immersive, haunting melodies before unleashing relentless aggression.

200 Stab Wounds took the stage next, delivering a raw and unfiltered dose of old-school-inspired death metal. Emerging from Cleveland, Ohio, in 2019, they quickly gained traction with their gritty brutal approach to extreme music. Their sound is heavily influenced by classic death metal acts of the ’90s, focusing on straightforward, gut-punching riffs and guttural vocals. From the first note, they controlled the stage with an powerful stage presence, making the pit turn into a "whirlpool" as the room responded to their circle pit inducing music.

Brand of Sacrifice brought their signature blend of cinematic atmosphere and crushing deathcore brutality. Formed in 2018 in Toronto, Canada, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their intense, anime-inspired aesthetic and punishing sound. Fronted by Kyle Anderson, their music incorporates symphonic elements and blistering breakdowns, creating a devastatingly heavy experience. Their live performance was nothing short of heavy, with Anderson’s guttural vocals cutting through each of us as the band played one banger track after another. The crowd responded as you would expect, throwing themselves into the pit with endless energy, making their set one of the most high-impact moments of the night.

Finally, Whitechapel took the stage, and the energy in the room hit maximum level. Formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2006, the band has been a defining force in deathcore for nearly two decades. Known for their signature triple-guitar playstyle and Phil Bozeman’s unmistakable vocals, they have evolved over the years blending their early heaviness with more refined songwriting and atmospheric elements. Their latest album, Hymns in Dissonance, showcases this growth while still delivering the crushing heaviness fans expect. Their set was a perfect mix of old and new, with fan favorites creating deafening singalongs and the newer material proving just as devastating in a live setting. It felt like Phil wanted to send a message, one that says the crown of heavy belongs to them.
From start to finish, the night was everything you’d expect from a top-tier deathcore tour: loud, chaotic, and absolutely crushing. Hymns in Dissonance has already made a huge impact, and seeing it performed live only solidified Whitechapel’s status as one of the genre’s most dominant forces.
